Your own strategies

Import your own strategies from TradingView, test them and put them next to the GMJD strategies.

From the Trader plan on, you import your own strategies. They get the same metrics as the strategies in the Library, can be tested in QuantDesk and are then available in the Portfolio Builder.

What you upload

The import takes a CSV file in one of two forms:

FormContentsWhat it enables
List of trades from TradingViewevery trade on its own row, with German or English headersmetrics, QuantDesk tests, Portfolio Builder, Prop Firm Analysis
Curve with the columns date, equityone account balance per daymetrics and Portfolio Builder

The QuantDesk tests and the Prop Firm Analysis need the list of trades. A curve of date and balance is not enough for them.

You upload the list of trades, not the source code of your strategy.

Getting the export from TradingView

  1. Open the strategy in TradingView and the Strategy Tester below it.
  2. Switch to the List of trades tab.
  3. Export the list as CSV.

How to import

  1. Open the Dashboard in QuantDesk.
  2. Drop the CSV on the upload field, or click it and choose the file.
  3. The server calculates the curve, metrics and monthly returns. This takes a few seconds.
  4. The strategy then appears under Meine Strategien (my strategies). Clicking it opens its test page, which fills in once the test is done.

Under Meine Strategien you rename or delete a strategy.

Import limits

LimitValue
File sizeat most 5 MB
Curve lengthat least 30 and at most 6,000 days
Nameat most 80 characters
Number of own strategiesTrader 20, Premium unlimited

The import refuses fewer than 30 days because any metric below that would be more noise than signal. A long curve is never thinned out, because that would shift Sharpe, drawdown and correlation.

When the import fails

The import states the reason above the field. The most common ones:

  • Wrong export. The import expects the list of trades from TradingView or a curve with date, equity. An export from another tab of the Strategy Tester does not fit.
  • History too short. The import refuses files with fewer than 30 days.
  • No trades in the file. The strategy is then saved without a list of trades, and QuantDesk cannot test it. Upload the export again.

What happens to your data

We store the curve, the metrics and, for a list of trades, the fields QuantDesk needs to calculate. The file itself is not kept. Only your account can see your own strategies.
